In summer of 2008 Koos was the artist-in-residence at The Academy of Art University, San Francisco. He taught students his craft and collaging fibre construction, to really let go and let freeform expression come through just as it does in his own work. His two month long residency allowed him to really connect with the pupils and get across the conflicting but complementary compositional elements in fashion and also how to execute it in a professional manner.
